Our Pastor
Pastor Roger Taylor was born and raised in Wiggins, MS. He graduated from Stone County High School (1980), Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (1982) and Mississippi State University (1985).
Roger’s parents, Doug & Margie Taylor, were deeply committed Christians and raised their family in Ebenezer Baptist Church in Wiggins. Although he had been taught about Jesus and God’s Word his entire life, he was saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ at age 9 and
baptized a few months later by Ebenezer. After graduating college and beginning to pursue a career in the forest products industry, God made it very clear that He wanted him to be a preacher of the gospel. He surrendered to that calling in 1986. In 1988, he became an Associate/Youth Pastor at Ebenezer. In 1989 he became Pastor of Eastgate Baptist Church in Greenwood, MS. In 1993 he began as Pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Madison, MS and continues until the present time. His Seminary training was at Gulf Coast Baptist Institute in
Theodore, AL.
He met his bride Debra in 1984, after her family moved from Arkansas to Wiggins for her dad to Pastor at Ebenezer. They married in 1988. Debra works as a Nurse Practitioner and plays piano at church. Their union has been blessed with their daughter Carmen and husband Zane Lynn and their sons Ellis and Bennett who now live in Columbus, MS. Also, their son Adam and wife Hannah and their son Breon who now live in Tupelo, MS.
In addition to Pastoring and other ministry work, his hobbies include sports, especially rooting for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, cooking, exercising, and meeting new people.
